The game recreates the Johto region with updated mapping, events, and progression while blending in some quality-of-life upgrades and balance changes. Trainers and Gym Leaders are generally more challenging, and a wider variety of Pokémon are available throughout the story to encourage team variety. The hack keeps the classic Johto feeling, but adds difficulty tuning, adjusted encounters, and small enhancements to make the adventure feel fresh while still familiar.
